Mollie the Tugboat

"Mollie, the Tugboat"

The creation of this artwork "Mollie the Tugboat" is based a boat which now rest in the Alabama River near Montgomery, Alabama.  One of my friends, Barbara Dollar, a jewelery artist, took a marvelous photograph of this little antique boat.  She asked that I paint it sometime.

Of course, my creation has its own colors and interpretation of what the completed painting meant to me the artist. There must be so many stories which will never be revealed.  Was it a little patrol boat?  Was it used by fishermen in the Gulf of Mexico?  Maybe, it was just a pleasure fishing boat. Oh, I do wonder what lives inside the tugboat now in its resting place!

Many boats are named for the wife of fisherman and of course I had no knowledge of that; however, I chose the name of our last Yorkie dog.  Mollie was both blind and diabetic in her senior years.. We loved "Mollie" and our family and friends have great memories of her. This gave the boat a special meaning to me, the artist and my family and friends.  Please enjoy this artwork!

This art is on an 8x10x 1 1/2 gallery canvas.  The painting of water, trees and scenery are all painted on the sides of the canvas.  Please take time to look at my gallery of other artworks!  The painting will be great on desk, table, bookcase or hung on wall and it needs no framing.

You can contact artist on this website if interested in the artwork.  Please take time to look at my gallery of other artworks!
