Three hours isn't sufficient time for quality painting; however, my "January Study Painting" at the Alabama Plein Air paint out, as well as, my photography will provide a great tools to paint a larger painting later and more accurate painting this year.
The year was off to a great start and I have painted in my studio, including in my recliner, with some of my artist friends and at the Alabama Plein Air January 2013 paint out. All events have been refreshing and enjoyable. Who would have believed that I would be able to paint outdoors in Alabama in January?
At my house, we did have a very nice snow from which I got some photography, especially of the community church on the corner. I painted with friends at Carol's house and I had some friends come to my house to paint.
One of the most enjoyable event for January was the Alabama Plien Air Paintout at the Indian Springs School. I will admit that my fingers were getting cold; however, I was in the sunshine and the temp was about 50 degrees when I painted. The lake and trees were absolutely wonderful. Some of the reflections were breath taking. Even the small flowers which were in bloom, let me know that Spring is just around the corner. We haven't had a lot of freezing weather this Winter.
Oh! I almost forgot, January was spend working on paintings which are in progress but most of all cleaning and reorganization of the paint studio for the New Year 2013. As a result of my work, a number of new paintings will be forthcoming.
I also changed my facebook profile picture with the painting at the plien air event. The new profile picture is:
